What Is ACE Grading?

ACE Grading started in 2021, founded by UK trading-card YouTuber Randolph to serve UK and European collectors who otherwise had to ship cards across the Atlantic to PSA or BGS and wait out international turnaround and customs. It began grading Pokémon cards during the pandemic boom and expanded into sports cards and other TCGs, and it has built a particular following among UK/EU soccer card collectors. Every card gets a single overall grade on a 1–10 scale with half points — no sub-grades — based on the weakest of centering, corners, edges, and surface.

• Centering is the headline feature.ACE publishes some of the tightest tolerances in the hobby: a 10 requires roughly 50/50 (±2%) front centering and 60/40 or better on the back; a 9.5 needs 55/45 front; a 9 needs 60/40 front. • Published per-card measurements— ACE reports front and back centering ratios on each card rather than leaving centering as a subjective loupe call, similar in spirit to the measurement-driven reports from HGA and TAG.
• No sub-grades on the label— unlike BGS, ACE prints one overall number, not separate scores for centering, corners, edges, and surface.
• UK/EU-first logistics.Submission, currency, and shipping are built around UK and European collectors, which cuts out the cost and customs delay of mailing cards to the US for grading — the main reason it gained traction there.
• Track record and recognition— strongest in the UK/EU market and among Pokémon and soccer card collectors; resale liquidity and buyer recognition for US sports cards still trail PSA, BGS, SGC, and CSG by a wide margin.

1. Based in the UK or EU?ACE avoids the international shipping cost, customs risk, and long transit time of sending a card to a US grader — a real advantage if you're not selling into the US market.
2. Check sold comps for that exact card in an ACE holder first.A tighter published centering standard doesn't guarantee a buyer pool — confirm real demand before submitting anything you plan to flip, especially for US sports cards.
